Welcome to the Mariposa County
Fire Safe Council (MCFSC) Website!
"THE MISSION OF THE MARIPOSA FIRE SAFE COUNCIL IS TO
PRESERVE MARIPOSA COUNTY'S NATURAL AND MANMADE RESOURCES BY MOBILIZING ALL MARIPOSA RESIDENTS TO MAKE THEIR HOMES, NEIGHBORHOODS
AND COMMUNITIES FIRE SAFE"
Thank you for visiting, we're glad you're here! There are few things in life that we can help to prevent and losing a house to a wildfire is one of them. We may not be able to stop wildland fires from occurring, but we can make a difference in whether or not our homes will survive a wildland fire. It is unreasonable to expect others to risk their lives trying to protect our property if we have done nothing to make it safer for them to do so. That's where the Mariposa County Fire Safe Council steps in. We are here to help and together we can make a difference. Please stroll through our website and see what we have been up to, what assistance is currently available, past, current and future fire safety and prevention programs, and hazardous fuels reduction projects throughout Mariposa County.

Preparation must begin long before smoke
appears on the horizon!

efforts in fire safety and prevention

The Fire Safe Council received a total of $150,000.00 to complete fire prevention projects throughout Mariposa County!!!
The projects funded in 2015 are as follows:

  • Removal of dead downed trees on private properties throughout Mariposa County.  The trees shall be within 150 feet of a permanent structure or within 100 feet of a clear route of ingress/egress. The Fire Safe Council will limb, chip, buck, transport and split the wood. The split wood be disbursed to seniors and low income residents for the 2015-2016 winter. The Fire Safe Council is working in cooperation with PG&E, CAL FIRE, MARIPOSA SENIOR CENTER, and MARIPOSA COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES
  • Removal of small hazardous debris for "at-risk" residents. "At-Risk" residents are defined as those Mariposa County residents who are physically and financially unable to clear and maintain their 100ft defensible space.
